How do you deal with uncertainty?
When I was in high school, I had my own little way of dealing with uncertainty. If I couldn’t decide whether to do something, I’d use a yes-or-no method based on the first number that came to my mind. Or I’d ask a friend to give me a random number. 😅 If it was something I wanted to do, I’d start with “yes.” If I wasn’t really interested, I’d start with “no.”
The things I was uncertain about back then were much simpler—like, “Should I go out with my friends after class?” 😂 I even used that method in college when I was stuck between two choices during exams. You know those questions where you’ve already eliminated a few answers and you’re left with two? Lol.
I guess that’s why Serendipity kind of relates to this for me. The whole movie is about uncertainty, chance, and trusting that things will somehow fall into place.
Seriously though, when it comes to uncertainty, I’ve always trusted my gut. And over the years, I’ve wondered if sometimes what I call my “gut feeling” is actually the Holy Spirit nudging me in a certain direction. I’ve learned to pay attention to it, especially when I’ve prayed about something and still feel that little nudge afterward.
I also look at the risks. If the risks outweigh the benefits, I probably won’t do it. But of course, it depends on the situation—and the season of life you’re in.
As I got older, the uncertainties became more complicated. I started realizing that not everything in life can be easily solved or decided with a simple yes-or-no method. 😂 Some decisions carry bigger consequences, and some situations are simply beyond my control.
And I think that’s when I started learning that not every uncertainty needs an answer right away—sometimes, it needs faith. And when I don’t know the answer, I trust God.
Because what looks cloudy to me right now, He already sees clearly. I may not know what’s on the other side, but He does.
So when I don’t know what to do, I trust my gut, consider the risks, and ultimately, trust Him.
Although, I still use my yes-or-no method once in a while. 😂 You should try it! 😅👍
